The problem. Two sanitary manholes on Preston Street in Arthur, Ontario — MH#16 and MH#22 — needed interior repairs that could only be done by a crew equipped for confined space entry. Access hardware had deteriorated, and in MH#22 the drop pipe needed to be secured.
The repair. Our crew entered both structures under confined space procedures. MH#16 was high-pressure water cleaned to expose sound material, then its ladder and landing were repaired; in MH#22, the drop pipe was secured. All work was completed inside live sanitary structures and documented in a follow-up report to the Township.
The result. Both manholes were left safe to enter and maintain — ladders, landings, and drop pipe secured — with photographic before-and-after records filed with the Township of Wellington North.
